Welcome

We are interested in understanding the design principles underlying natural protein function on a quantitative, structure-based level. This is critical not only for gaining fundamental insight into biological processes, but also for exploring the rich functionality of proteins in practical engineering applications. Specific questions of interest for our lab include how protein structure dictates protein-protein recognition and the structural mechanisms of information transfer by allostery. We employ a mix of computational and experimental approaches to both understand functions of natural proteins as well as engineer novel proteins with useful functions.
